Norbert Hornstein is a Linguistics professor at the University of Maryland. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1979 and during his time there he was a teaching fellow. Following his time at Harvard, Hornstein was a Mellon then Beekman Fellow at the Columbia University Society of Fellows. He was an assistant professor at Columbia until 1983 when he began teaching at the University of Maryland. Hornstein received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship in 1992 and was a Distinguished Research Fellow at the University of Maryland College Park from 1996 to 1998. He was awarded three grants from the National Science Foundation from 1996-1998, 1999-2002, and 2007-2009. His most recent book, written in conjunction with Boeckx and Nunes, is entitled Control as Movement (2010 Cambridge University Press).
