Hidetaka Hirota, a Society of Fellows fellow from 2013 - 2016, was recently featured on C-SPAN, and in TIME Magazine and American Quarterly.  Hirota's C-SPAN interview on 19th-century Irish immigration was recently featured on the program American History TV where he discusses his recent book Expelling The Poor: Atlantic Seaboard States and the Nineteenth-Century Origins of American Immigration Policy. Click here to watch the clip.

Hirota was also featured in TIME Magazine's June 30th article "25 Moments that Changed America." Here, he highlights the Supreme Court decision of Henderson v. Mayor of City of New York (Oct. 1, 1875), in which the question of who had authority over immigration control was decided. 

Lastly, Hirota's article "Exclusion on the Ground: Racism, Official Discretion, and the Quotidian Enforcement of General Immigration Law in the Pacific Northwest Borderland," has been published in American Quarterly.
