ACLS New Faculty Fellow in Anthropology Columbia University

Gökçe Günel holds the position of ACLS New Faculty Fellow in Anthropology at Columbia University. She finished her PhD in Anthropology at Cornell University in 2012. Her current book manuscript, titled “Spaceship in the Desert: Energy, Climate Change and Green Business in Abu Dhabi,” focuses on the construction of renewable energy and clean technology infrastructures in the United Arab Emirates, more specifically concentrating on the Masdar City project. Following her doctoral work, she was a Cultures of Energy Mellon-Sawyer Postdoctoral Fellow at Rice University, where she investigated the production of international carbon capture and storage policy. Her articles are published and forthcoming in Ephemera, Anthropology News, Public Culture, Anthropological Quarterly, The Yearbook of Comparative Literature, The ARPA Journal, and PoLAR.
